Day 1
Begin your adventure after breakfast as your guide
picks you up around 9:00 AM. Walk along the riverbank,
passing through lush rubber plantations before
reaching the entrance of Gunung Leuser National Park.
Once inside, the jungle comes alive — keep your eyes
open for Sumatran orangutans swinging freely through
the trees. If you’re lucky, you might even see mothers
with their playful babies. Take your time to enjoy
this unforgettable moment before continuing deeper
into the forest. Pause for a short rest and enjoy
fresh tropical fruits. Then, trek gently uphill for an
incredible view over the Bohorok River Valley and the
surrounding rainforest. After a delicious jungle
lunch, the trail continues through dense vegetation
filled with wildlife like Thomas Leaf Monkeys,
Pig-tailed Macaques, and colorful tropical birds. By
late afternoon, you’ll arrive at your riverside or
waterfall campsite. Relax with a cup of tea, take a
swim, or simply unwind as your guide prepares a hearty
local dinner. As night falls, gather around the
campfire, share stories, and fall asleep to the
tranquil sounds of the jungle.
Day 2
Wake up to birdsong and a homemade breakfast in the
heart of the rainforest. Today’s trek takes you deeper
into untouched jungle, where the chance of spotting
more wildlife increases. Watch for Monitor Lizards,
Macaques, and maybe even Gibbons calling from the
canopy. Enjoy a tasty lunch surrounded by towering
trees before continuing another few hours to your next
campsite. Cool off in the nearby river or waterfall
and relax while dinner is cooked over an open fire.
Spend the evening chatting or playing simple games
with your guide before drifting off to sleep beneath
the stars.
Day 3
After two nights in the wild, you’ll wake up feeling
like a true explorer. Enjoy a hearty jungle breakfast
before setting off on a 4–6 hour trek deeper into
Gunung Leuser National Park. Take breaks along the way
to admire the dense forest and spot amazing wildlife —
including up to eight monkey species like orangutans,
macaques, Thomas Leaf Monkeys, and even gibbons or
hornbills flying overhead. Lunch will be served in the
heart of the jungle, followed by a relaxing walk to
your next campsite. Once there, unwind by the river,
enjoy a refreshing swim, and watch the sunset over the
trees. After dinner around the campfire, you can join
your guide for an optional night trek — a magical
chance to see nocturnal creatures that wake when the
jungle goes dark.
Day 4
Your fourth day takes you even deeper into the wild
heart of Gunung Leuser National Park. Explore
untouched corners of the rainforest—hidden waterfalls,
crystal-clear streams, and serene riverbanks where few
have ever set foot. Each step reveals new wonders of
plants, wildlife, and the magic of the tropical
jungle. After a peaceful lunch surrounded by nature,
continue trekking while your guide shares stories
about the forest’s medicinal plants and their
traditional uses. As evening arrives, settle into your
final campsite and relax with tea or coffee as dinner
is prepared. If you’re up for one last adventure, join
your guide on a short night trek to spot nocturnal
animals in their mysterious world.
Day 5
Wake up to your final jungle breakfast, breathing in
the pure morning air and soaking in your last moments
of forest calm. After lunch, it’s time to return to
Bukit Lawang in true explorer style — floating down
the Bohorok River on a thrilling “jungle taxi” ride.
As you reach the village, tired but smiling, you’ll
carry home more than just photos — but stories,
friendships, and memories that will stay with you
forever.
